Today the VWS went to the nest to do a health check on the chick and vaccinate
it for West Nile Virus. The chick is in great shape. Fat and happy. Weighed about

This was an unusual finding up at Whale Point. A striped racer (Masticophis lateralis) had a hold of this fence lizard (Sceloperus occidentalis). The lizard was alive and it seemed to be a stalemate. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to wait around long enough to see the end result. What do you think happened?
